Shahid Online – I Know What You Did Last Summer returns in a modern “requel” a reboot and sequel hybrid hoping to revive the 1997 teen slasher hit. Written by Sam Lansky and directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film brings together a new group of attractive, troubled friends: Danica, Ava, Milo, Teddy, and Stevie. After a fatal accident they choose to cover up, they are soon hunted by a mysterious figure with a deadly hook and a message: “I know what you did last summer.”
The storyline closely follows the original recipe. But despite the familiar setup, I Know What You fails to deliver the suspense and shock that once defined its predecessor. The mystery lacks punch, and the scares rarely land.

Visually, the film shines. The cast is picture-perfect, the coastal town of Southport looks idyllic, and the aesthetic screams summer horror. Robinson, known for stylish Netflix hits like Do Revenge, clearly understands how to set the scene.
However, I Know What You relies too much on glossy visuals. The horror elements feel secondary, and the emotional stakes never quite land. Even the killer’s reveals and deaths are surprisingly tame, making the experience more of a teen drama with blood than a true slasher thriller.
For longtime fans, seeing the franchise return might stir some nostalgia especially if you remember the impact of the original, written by Scream’s Kevin Williamson. But this version doesn’t bring anything new or terrifying.
Compared to stronger requels like Scream (2022), I Know What You feels like a missed opportunity. The film doesn’t insult its audience, but it doesn’t challenge them either. It’s a decent watch for a casual summer night, but not one that will haunt you after the credits roll.
